Note: সাধারণত and দ্বারা যুক্ত দুই বা ততেধিক singular noun / pronoun-কে একত্রে plural subject ধরা হয় এবং এর পরের verb plural হয়।

The principal and the secretary of our college was present. Were.

Note: and দ্বারা যুক্ত দুটি ব্যক্তি থাকবে এবং তাদের আগে The থাকবে। কিন্তু তাদের কাজের পদবি ভিন্ন থাকলে subject Plural হিসাবে ধরা হয় এবং verb তখন plural হয়।

 The magistrate and judge were present. Was

Note:  and দ্বারা যুক্ত দুটি ব্যক্তি থাকবে এবং শুধু আগেরটিতে The থাকবে,কিন্তু পরেরটিতে The থাকবে না। verb তখন singular হয়।

Fifty miles are a long distance.(is)

Note: distance বুঝালে verb টি singular হয়।

Tk.500 are spent. (is)

Note: Taka আসলে singular.

Twelve years were jerry’s age. (was)

Note: age বুঝালে singular হয়।

Two plus two are four. (is )

Ten divided by two are five.(is)

গাণিতিক কিছু বুঝালে verb singular হয়।

To tell lies are a great sin. (is)

Note: To যুক্ত verb 1 বাক্যের প্রথমে subject হিসাবে আসলে তা singular হয়।

Being displease, he left the place.(displeased)

The boy went to play cricket having learn his lessons. (learnt)

(Being /having/ to be ইত্যাদির পরে verb থাকলে পরের verb টি verb3 হয়)
