More than 30 people, including leaders and activists( কর্মী) of BNP and
staffs of Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office, have been living on dry food for
the last five consecutive ( পরপর) days as police have unofficially ( বেসরকারীভাবে) cut off food
supply to the office.
BNP Vice-Chairman Selima Rahman, who is among those staying inside the office since January 3, lambasted the government ( সরকারের নিন্দা) yesterday for not allowing food supply to the office.
“The government's ministers and the inspector general of police said there was no obstruction to food being sent to the office. Then why the police do not allow food and drinking water to enter the office,” she said after police stopped a rickshaw carrying food and water from getting into the office at 2:30pm.
“Is it a jail? Food is served in jails and the condemned (অপরাধীদের criminals also get food,” she said.
She also claimed that Khaleda had been starving ( অনাহারী) as she could not eat keeping her men and staff without food.
In presence of journalists taking footage and photographs, two plainclothes policemen of Gulshan Police Station yesterday asked the rickshaw puller to immediately leave after the vehicle reached the office gate carrying 30 packs of food and 30 bottles of water.
